How to crate train your dog. He loves his crate as you can tell. This is actually our dog named Charlie Brown. He is about 11 weeks old in this video. He is a mix between an English Bulldog (dad) and a Pug (mom). Some people call this mix a Miniature Bulldog. Either way we love him. He has 5 other siblings most of which live in Myrtle Beach and then his mother, father, and one brother moved to WV recently. Enjoy!

Dog Training Tutorial- HOUSETRAINING

Posted on November 24th, 2010 by admin

House-training is often the first thing most dogs need to learn as they become part of a new family. Since this is something I have been getting numerous requests for – I decided to do a video on it.

There is some additional information on housetraining (tips) that I did not include in the video which is available on my Facebook page under the discussions section.

***NOTE***
All this information assumes that the dog in question is in good health and not suffering from any sickness/disease. Sometimes lack of bladder and bowel control is a result of ill health and if you suspect that this might be the case with your dog, please immediately consult your vet to rule out any such possibility.

It is also assumed that the dog is not struggling with fear-based elimination. As is often the case with some dogs, the goal in these instances would be to tackle the issue of fear/anxiety in addition to following all the advice given in the video. Unfortunately, the details in these situations are specific and unique to the dog – so the best approach is to contact a professional dog trainer who uses positive reinforcement only, to assess and determine the most appropriate course of action.

How to train any puppy!!!

Posted on September 14th, 2010 by admin

In this video, I address some of the most popular questions regarding puppy training. When should you start training a puppy? How do you teach a dog to want to be obedient? How to establish good habits, eliminate behavior problems and some house-training basics.

The key is to set your dog up to be successful without even giving them a chance to do the wrong thing. Puppies are curious and energetic which combined, may cause them to learn inappropriate behaviors. But if we actively supervise them and manage the environment, then they will quickly develop into well mannered members of your family.

A positive attitude is the most significant tool when bonding with a puppy. By adding or removing positive reinforcement (whether it is attention, or food) we can effectively curb, guide & nurture behavior.

Thanks for watching & subscribing!

***New video will be up later this week!***

Frisbee Foundations with Ron Watson- Dogmantics Dog Training TV presents

Posted on June 20th, 2010 by admin

Ron Watson, an internationally renowned Frisbee master, was in San Diego doing a Frisbee seminar that I had the pleasure to attend. He generously accepted the offer to do a free youtube tutorial on some basic Frisbee foundations.

These exercises can be done with a dog even before they have been introduced to a Frisbee, and can also be used for cool tricks, or flashy Canine Freestyle moves as well!

I must say that my Frisbee throwing ability GREATLY improved with a little tutoring! And now Splash is not eating dirt every time that I throw! Thanks Ron!

Are you interested in Frisbee? Check out these links-

Check out Ron Watsons youtube channel www.youtube.com/k9disc for more free tips on playing Frisbee with your dog.

Remember your dog should be over 18 months old to do these exercises, to ensure their growth plates are closed. Also keep in mind your dog should also not be overweight or old- stressing their joints too much.
